COACH
WITH ME
You’re probably here because you’re looking for someone who will work with you on a fitness or lifestyle goal. My name’s Thomas. I’m a displaced Appalachian, I sing like a girl (which is awesome), I lift heavy things, and I’d love to help. Here’s a bit about my background so you can decide if we’re a good fit. 🥰
WHAT WE
CAN DO
-
Focus on building strength.
Strength training is the bread and butter of the coaching experience and the closest thing we have to a magic pill for health and longevity. While many people associate it with building muscle, it does more than that. It helps with bone density, joint health, balance and posture, mood and cognitive function, and managing many chronic health conditions. More simply, it helps you move through the world with greater confidence and resilience—whether that means carrying groceries, playing with your kids, hiking a mountain, or continuing to do the things you love as you age.
-
Focus on posture, flexibility, balance, and mobility.
"Functional training" is kind of a funny catch-all phrase that everyone uses but no one seems to know what it means. It's a little like the word "nice"—it doesn't really tell you much about a person or a feeling.
For me, functional training is all about helping you move more efficiently in everyday life. It overlaps with strength training, but it's really about improving posture, increasing range of motion, balance, and developing coordination. In practical terms, that might mean getting up from the floor more easily, climbing stairs without discomfort, carrying groceries without hurting your back, preventing falls, or simply moving through your day with less stiffness and pain. The goal is to help your body work with you—not against you.
-
Focus on nutritional education and sustainable eating habits
Nutrition is probably the most important part of the health and fitness equation. My role is to help you understand how food choices impact your goals and build eating habits that work in the real world. Together, we can:
Assess dietary, lifestyle, and health-related factors
Develop strategies to support weight management, athletic performance, muscle gain, and overall wellness
Identify and modify habits that may be getting in the way
Set goals, establish accountability, and create practical steps for long-term success
Learn how to make healthier choices at home, while traveling, or when life inevitably gets messy
Now for the mildly boring but important part—so I don’t get sued. I'm a coach, not a physician or registered dietitian. I can work alongside those folks to help you implement specific recommendations, but I cannot:
Diagnose or treat medical conditions
Prescribe supplements or therapeutic diets
Create individualized meal plans intended to treat disease
Provide medical nutrition therapy
-
Focus on body composition and aesthetics
There is a lot of overlap in fitness, and inevitably, strength training, “functional training” (whatever that means), and nutrition play into this. When I mention body composition and aesthetics, I'm talking about changing how you look—whether that's building muscle, becoming leaner, adding definition, or creating a more athletic physique.
I’ll come out and say it’s about a little vanity. That's okay. Aesthetic goals are just as valid as any other reason to train—and they come with the same health benefits! The process isn't magic, but it is effective: build muscle, lose excess body fat, stay consistent, and let time do its work.
